Hephzibah Wins
“Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” Award!

Hephzibah was selected as one of “Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” for the third consecutive year. This annual competition is sponsored by the National Association for Business Resources, and was established to honor those companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset. According to the selection criteria, “These are companies that work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value and business results through their policies and Best Practices in human resources management. The selection, recognition and awarding of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For allows businesses to showcase these policies and

Best Practices and demonstrate why each of them is an ideal place for employees to work.”

The award selection for this competition begins with an initial nomination by an individual, and then follows this process:
•The company’s Human Resources Department (in our case, the Director of Operations)
is contacted to complete and submit an extensive survey along with an employee roster.
•The company’s employees are randomly selected to complete a confidential survey on
how they feel about their work environment.
•All applications are scored on a point system. Those receiving the highest points are selected as the Best and Brightest winners. IIT’s Center for Research and Service examines each application and analyzes the data to ensure the integrity of the selection process.

The following award categories are used as criteria to determine winners:
Communication: The effective exchange of information and the extent to which employees are encouraged to communicate opinions, issues and concerns.
Community Initiatives: The extent to which the organization is committed to improving
the local community, while providing the encouragement and time for employees to contribute and participate.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary and benefits relative to comparable organizations, as well as the ability to provide a unique benefits and compensation structure.
Diversity and Multi-Culturalism: Extent to which the organization is open and inclusive
to people of differing human qualities and promotes a tolerant work environment.
Employee Education and Development: The organization encourages and supports learning, skill development, and career progression.
Employee Engagement and Commitment: Extent to which employees are meaningfully and personally connected to their work and their organization.
Recognition and Retention: The organization recognizes and rewards achievements and outstanding performance, and works to retain their best and brightest employees.
Recruitment and Selection: Active recruitment using multiple methods and a screening process to select people who best fit the organization.
Work-Life Balance: The organization and management recognize employees’ needs to balance work with family and other demands.

Hephzibah’s mission, values, culture and leadership demonstrate our ongoing commitment
to our staff of competent, caring and dedicated professionals. We are proud and excited to be among those companies – many who are large, multi-state and trans-national businesses honored for their best practices in Human Resources. Our personnel policies and practices reflect our appreciation, respect, and support of our most valuable resource – our employees! We applaud all of their accomplishments in enhancing Hephzibah’s reputation
for quality services to children and families.
