Hephzibah’s award-winning Foster Care program is recruiting nurturing foster and adoptive parents for our children. Named one of the top five foster care programs in the State of Illinois for three consecutive years, Hephzibah welcomes all people to
contact our foster care team to share their skills, questions, and interest in
special needs children.
Becoming a foster or adoptive parent involves an integrated process including:
- criminal and child abuse background checks,
- a complete analysis of the home or apartment for safety and space concerns,
- a thorough study of the interested family members, including their backgrounds, their current functioning and their philosophies on
discipline and child rearing
- in-depth training and preparatory classes with a group of peers
At Hephzibah’s Family Based Services, our Foster Care Team has been
created to provide the utmost support and guidance for all of our foster and adoptive families.
Supportive Services include:
- The Journey Program – An internship program for families preparing to foster parent or adopt a child who has been traumatized by neglect,
abuse, or multiple placements.
- Stayin’ Put – A home-based support group for children and foster
parents to discuss the ups and downs of placement and to work
towards permanency.
- Makin’ the Grade – An academic support group that focuses on a
foster child’s academic and social behaviors within the context of the school setting.
- In-home consultation and support for families
- Respite services
- Training sessions on foster parenting and child management techniques
- Support group meetings for foster parents
We believe in the power of families to provide a safe, healing, loving and nurturing home for our Hephzibah children. If you are interested in more information on becoming a foster parent,
