Tom Dart Shares Insight on Youth

tom-dart-enews1_optJoin us at our Annual Meeting on Friday, September 16 at 9:00 am, when Cook County Sheriff, Tom Dart talks about how the community can get involved to help keep kids out of the juvenile justice system. Dart brings an unparalleled perspective having served as a prosecutor and state legislator before becoming Sheriff in 2006. He serves as chief executive of the second largest department in the U.S., behind Los Angeles. Dart has focused efforts on protecting the most vulnerable members of society.

As a legislator Dart re-wrote child welfare bills, wrote the state’s Sexually Violent Predators Commitment Act and led the state’s first-ever study connecting homelessness and prostitution. As Sheriff he has introduced sweeping changes at the Cook County Jail, the nation’s largest single site jail, aggressively re-structured the Sheriff’s Police force, and improved operations of the Court Services.

The Annual Meeting will be held at Hephzibah Home, 946 North Blvd in Oak Park. Visitors are welcome to attend.
