Jewel and Christian: Bound for big things

Every child deserves a safe, loving permanent home where they can be unconditionally loved and receive the support they need to grow. We want every child in a secure home with a permanent family. That’s our number one goal at Hephzibah.

You can imagine how excited we were this summer when foster care system veterans Jewel and Christian were adopted by their foster families, just short of their 18th birthdays. In addition, both were college-bound. Jewel is studying at Triton College to earn an ultrasound tech degree. Christian is studying music business at University of Illinois Chicago.

These accomplishments are especially significant when noting the statistics. Annually 23,000 foster children in the nation age out of the system when they turn 18 years old with no permanent family. For most this leads to a tragic future— 20% are immediately homeless, only half will find gainful employment and less than 3% will go to college.

Your support allows us to continue to supporting children like Jewel and Christian on their journey to finding unconditional love and stability with a forever family. This year, all donations made through December 31 will be matched dollar for dollar, thanks to generous Hephzibah supporters. Please donate today.

Thank you for supporting Hephzibah’s work with children and families.
