Stabilizing and Supporting Families

Sometimes when families face challenges they have nowhere to turn for help. Hephzibah helps families stay together and become stronger by providing access to services and support that help families stay intact and get the help they need.

Our Prevention Services include two programs: Intact Family Services and a Positive Parenting Program. Families receive these services through DCFS referrals.

Strengthening Families

Hephzibah helps families stay strong and stay together. Our family support staff go into the home, with the family, and find out exactly what they need, helping the family eliminate the barriers to thriving.

Intact Family Services

Sometimes, the best way to help a child is to keep the family together. As an alternative to removing the child from the home, Hephzibah provides a broad spectrum of Intact Family Services designed to help families in crisis. These services include helping families experiencing stress resulting from inadequate housing or homelessness, substance abuse, parenting skills, domestic violence and mental or physical illness.

Positive Parenting Program

The Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) helps parents and caregivers strengthen their parenting skills and confidence. Parents are taught practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems from developing. The program–considered one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world–emphasizes five core principles: ensuring a safe, engaging environment; promoting a positive learning environment; using assertive discipline; maintaining reasonable expectations; and taking care of oneself as a parent.
