It was a special evening of music, storytelling, comedy, food, beverages and surprises on June 7 at Stage 773, thanks to the vision and talents of newly licensed Hephzibah foster parents Jill Valentine and Gus Vera Valinotti. Jill is the executive director and a founding principal of Stage 773, a non-profit performance venue located in Chicago’s Belmont Theater District, and after completing foster care training, approached Hephzibah about hosting a comedy fundraiser.
With the support of a talented group of friends and family who performed the show entitled “Laughing for a Purpose” free-of-charge, as well as contributions and support from individuals, organizations and vendors for the delicious food, beverages and raffle prizes, the event raised more than $3,500 to benefit Hephzibah. In addition, attendees were introduced to the great work of Hephzibah.
“It was an amazing night with fabulous entertainment and great food,” Executive Director Merry Beth Sheets said. “Everyone had great time and we are so grateful to Jill and Gus for their generosity and all-around commitment to Hephzibah.”
