On September 26th – 28th the community came together once again to support Hephzibah by donating, volunteering and shopping at the 2024 Fall Kids Resale Event. Our fall resale event raised over $28,000 for Hephzibah’s After School Care and Summer Camp Program! We are so grateful for all of the donations, volunteers and shoppers who made this sale our biggest yet!
The After School and Summer Camp program offers life-changing support to families with fun, affordable and enriching care for elementary-aged children after school and onsite at each of Oak Park’s elementary schools. The program also offers parents a sliding-scale payment plan making it accessible to all and is also offered during summer months and school holidays for year-round care.
Each spring and fall thousands of children’s, infant and maternity items are donated in the week leading up to each event. These items are carefully sorted and organized by volunteers made up of local community members. These volunteers include a team of dedicated managers who plan and make sure each event runs like clockwork ensuring a smooth experience for everyone.
After the sale, the remainder of the clothing was packed up by members of the Oak Park River Forest High School football team and delivered to Unique Thrift, which supports Vietnam Veterans, guaranteeing that all items made it to a home making it a 100% sustainable event. We are so grateful for the continued support from our community that endlessly give their time and resources to ensure that we can continue to offer vital programming to children and families we serve for many years to come.
