Staff Spotlight: Aisha Mock

It’s no secret that Hephzibah Children’s Association is a great place to work. With a nurturing, supportive workplace culture and the opportunity to do meaningful work helping children and families, it’s easy to see why employees love working at Hephzibah and why they stay.

Our recent hire of Aisha Mock as Assistant Director of Human Resources can attest to that! Aisha joined Hephzibah in October 2023 as the first one to hold this newly created position. Recently, Aisha answered some questions about her new role:

What do you like about your work at Hephzibah? I like that I have the opportunity to collaborate with individuals driven by a shared passion for aiding children. I get great satisfaction from actively contributing to the organization’s progress, ensuring it remains an environment where employees are motivated to excel, and our children experience happiness and growth.

You have a background in social work – how does your work now compare to your experience in social work services?  The nature of my current responsibilities closely mirrors that of my past work in social services. I am engaged in establishing and nurturing relationships with employees, advocating on their behalf, and effecting organizational change for the benefit of both employees and upper management.

What advice would you give someone pursuing work in child welfare either on the caseworker side or the administrative side? It is crucial to have a genuine passion for working with children and to ensure that one’s values align with the principles of being a servant leader. While working with children may be challenging, adopting a servant leadership mindset, coupled with a sincere dedication to the well-being of children will have a lasting impact.

What makes your work at Hephzibah meaningful?  The meaningful aspects of my work encompass building impactful relationships, advocating the interests of employees, consistently fostering a positive atmosphere, and actively participating in our collective mission to serve children.
