The 2024 Heart of Gold Ball

Friday, March 8 was an evening to remember for Hephzibah and all those who attended the 2024 Heart of Gold Ball. Over 300 people dined, danced, and celebrated Hephzibah’s largest fundraiser of the year. Throughout the evening and through our video presentation, the resounding message was clear: Hephzibah helps families and children flourish.

Thank you to our sponsors, committee members (Honorary and Gala), and our Board of Directors. Learn more about all those who helped make this incredible event happen! Through the generosity of attendees, donors, sponsors, and surprise matching pledges, we were able to raise over $475,000 for Hephzibah and our programs! A truly elevated evening.

Each year at the Heart of Gold Ball, awards are given to organizations or individuals who have made a lasting impact on the lives of Hephzibah children and families. At this year’s event, the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation received the Heart of Gold Award. The Heart of Gold award is given to individuals or groups who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children and families.  In 2011, Charles Angell, assisted by his sons Jim and Mike, founded the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation in honor of their father. The foundation focuses on the environment, performing arts, and underserved youth. In recent years the foundation’s staff and trustees have decided to increase their support for Hephzibah allowing us to provide essential services for more children and families. The Heart of the Home Award was established in 2004 and recognizes the outstanding service and commitment to Hephzibah by a person or group engaged in a project or program. Eric Friedman, a local and highly engaged father launched an affordable supplemental math tutoring program called SMART to benefit local elementary aged youth after many fell behind following an extended period of online learning. Eric strove to make the program affordable and accessible for all. After the program experienced major growth, he turned the program over to Hephzibah to manage, and to benefit from. Eric’s selfless efforts allow all local youth access to the supplemental learning program, now called SMART Hephzibah.Kim Van Horn, Managing Director of the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, shared what we at Hephizbah know to be true, “Hephzibah is a leader in its field, implementing programs that have been proven to help children and their families heal from trauma, succeed in school, and realize a brighter future.”
