There are many ways to get involved. Our volunteer manager can help find the right volunteer position for you or your group. You can start by attending one of our virtual volunteer info sessions, which occur six times per year. You can also inquire directly to discuss what volunteer path is right for you. Summer Camp Volunteer (14+)
Summer Camp student volunteers are on-site volunteers at our Summer Day Care Program at Longfellow Elementary School in Oak Park from June 15th to August 7th.
As a Summer Camp Volunteer, your role is to be a positive role model to the children in the day care program. You will help with arts and crafts, play games, read or teach the child a new game and assist staff where necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- 14-17 years of age at time of volunteering
- Must complete volunteer application process (application, references, interview)
- Training will be provided by Community Relations Manager and day care site supervisor
Qualifications Sought:
- Reliability, adaptability, leadership capacity
- Excellent working with elementary age children
- Commitment to regular day/time
Time Commitment:
- Commitment to 3 hours, at least one day/week for at least 4 weeks during the summer (minimum of 12 total volunteer hours). Camp runs for 8 weeks from June 15th-August 7th, Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm
Supervision: Day Care Site Supervisor along with day care staff
Join an Auxiliary Board
Become an auxiliary board member to help raise awareness about Hephzibah’s mission.
After School Volunteer (13+)
After School volunteers serve on-site in our after school program located in Oak Park District 97 elementary schools. As a friend and positive role model, they will help with homework, play games and assist staff.
Heartmate (21+)
Heartmate mentors make a long-term commitment to spend time with a child living in Hephzibah Home playing games, doing art projects, playing outside and other fun activities.
Helpmate (13+)
Helpmates support Hephzibah by volunteering with one-time projects, annual events, special events or whenever extra hands are needed.
Homework Helpers
Homework Helpers assist in the After-School Academy for Hephzibah Home residents. These volunteer tutors read, help with homework and engage the children in creative play. The main goal is to help the children complete their homework, and they also provide a place where learning and reading are shared and enjoyed.
Corporate, Business, Foundation, or Community Partner
This highly successful program offers corporations, businesses, foundations and organizations a valuable opportunity to raise their visibility in the community while boosting employee or member morale and fostering a culture of teamwork and civic responsibility. Our partners can choose from a wide variety of activities with the children living in our group homes or suggest their own activities or projects.
